Great Southern Yarn is an Australian yarn company in NSW dedicated to producing the best Merino yarns available. Their yarns are wholly produced, processed and hand dyed in Australia. 

Their 100% Australian SRS Merino is single-origin sourced from Mount Bodangora Merino, a six-generation merino stud committed to an ethical and sustainable approach to animal welfare and non-mulesed. Mount Bodangora run a mob of sheep especially for Great Southern Yarn to supply them with a longer length fleece of around 100mm or four inches to create the best of yarns.

Mount Bodangora is part of the ‘SustainaWOOL’ integrity scheme, an accreditation program run by Italian woollen mills to ensure a high standard of care for the sheep and their environment.

Great Southern Yarn comes in an extensive range of natural and hand-dyed colours. The colour range is inspired and named after Australian female artists and their paintings. There are a number of knitting patterns designed to show off the colour combinations and the quality of the yarn
